Los Altos de Alameda

Los Altos de Alameda is a Colorado Housing and Finance Authority apartment building in Denver offering 50 apartments in a single building. Each apartment has their own electric meter and solar panels to offset much of their usage. These 50 systems were installed in 2010 during construction.

Located on two major thoroughfares, Los Altos provides convenient access to Denver and Lakewood with several Denver parks, shopping, dining and public transportation options nearby. Rents are reasonable in this affordable housing development, and with solar power, the utilities are, too. Occupancy is consistently 100%.

Originally developed by St. Charles Town Company, I met with their ownership and architectural team during the planning phase. While we were acquainted from my previous career as a commercial realtor, the process of decoding the competing solar bidder’s proposal and comparing both options clearly for them made it clear that I would be their best solar consultant moving forward.

The project took a formerly blighted location and turned it into a desirable multifamily housing project for low income tenants. To secure the best financing and tax advantages, the project also sought green community certifications, which we accomplished with this solar installation.
